Thoughts about Logos and Design

I made an invoice yesterday, and while I was trying to manage the layout of the text, it occurred to me that my company, Pixels and Widgets Inc. doesn’t have a logo.

Off I go looking at logos and conventions.

I found this great site that really gave me insight into what it takes to brand and re-brand a company.

  • Identityworks’ 2006 Reviews : Some really great stuff as they review big name logo changes throughout the years. Key take away: I have a bad name. It’s in two iconic parts that compete with each other.

NOTE: I chose the name because I wanted to talk about HCI design and physical ergonomics.

So what should Pixels and Widgets look like? I think one of the problems is that I’ve focused a lot on the visual aspects of “pixels” and “widgets”. When I think about it, they don’t have any visual analog. A pixel is a visual unit of measure, and a widget is a theoretical engineering product. That’s about it.

To answer the question, I’m probably just going to roll out a piece of text.

Cheers,

Tai
