Tonnes of stuff

I’ve been doing a tonne of stuff recently. Working on Imprints using Joomla CMS. Managed to convince the powers at work to use it for a pro-bono project for an AIDS research organization here in Canada.

Should be cool stuff. I hope I can help out.

On the Personal side, Jen and I finally found a caterer. Yay! And we have a couch. It’s comfy.

On my spare time, next to the TCM treatments and exercise classes, I’ve been reading up on Python and a Web-app framework called Django.

Which is better? Ruby on Rails or Django? I don’t know. However, both are now installed on IA Dynamo’s server. I’ve also moved over to PHP5 as well as prepping the server for a GCC 4.1 rebuild. I’m also considering setting up a Lighttpd server to serve all my media (images, movies, etc.) to offload Apache 2.x when it generates articles. I don’t know if there will be an improvement in performance for media serving given that it’s all on a single local box, but I’ve read that that is the correct way to do things.

Other things that I’ve found interesting over the last few weeks? I installed Parallels workstation on my work laptopl to see what all this stuff about virtualization was all about. I immediately bought a license for mac version to use for my mac when I do decide to upgrade.

Been reading up on Drupal. I can’t make heads or tails out of it yet. So looks like text pattern will fit the bill for the next little while.

Cheers,

Tai
