So I took the time to see the “tongue-and-cheek” humor of Apple’s new ad campaign called Get a Mac
The videos show two people, each representing the PC and Mac. Typical to Mac-elitist fashion, the young-hipster-guy represents the Mac.
Now, I’m not into the stereotypes promoted by these two characters—I’m somewhat atypical as a mac user—but the information is in my opinion very true.
The one thing that they really need to address is “gaming”. You can’t game on mac OS X as well as the PC (but with the Xbox360, Nintendo Wii, and PS3—do you need a PC anymore?).
Or can you?
I can see the ad campaign now:
Mac Guy: What are you doing?
PC Guy (wearing virtual reality headgear): I’m gaming.
Mac Guy: Oh… hold on.
(mac guy walks off stage, comes back dressed like the PC guy (brown suit) wearing VR head gear)
PC Guy: Why are you dressed like that?
Mac Guy: I’m playing games too.
PC Guy: How can you do that?
Mac Guy: I can load Windows too and play the same games as you do.
PC Guy: Cool. Let’s have a LAN party
(they hold hands—fade out)
PCs still rock for gaming.
