Now that GCC 3.4.4 has been marked stable in the Gentoo Linux portage tree, I finally started the long and arduous process of recompiling every system package on the linux box. Still have to do the:
emerge -ev world
Then I still have to configure and recompile the kernel. I think once this is all done. I will do a major back up of the system and config files.
So many things have happend recently:
- 3 weeks ago, I got engaged to my long-time girlfriend Jen. When I mean long-time, I mean 6 1/2 years. I proposed inside a private capsule on top of the London Eye.
- Jen and I are now looking for somewhere to live. Preferably Downtown Toronto near the St. Lawrence Market.
- Jen and I have been pre-approved for a mortgage.
- I’m now planning a wedding.
- Cort left Sapient.
- I finally have a managee to manage.
- I think I got mail working on the linux box, with Virus scanning and Spam Filtering to boot.
- My hopes of a new mac may be closer than I expect. Rumor has it that Apple will be introducing new Intel iBooks in Macworld Jan 2006.
I’ll write more about the engagement later. Needless to say:
I’m so po’h.
